Sharing patient-level data from clinical trials can improve the quality of research, but there are concerns about data sharing, and multiple different systems are being created.  GSK was a first mover in making anonymized patient level data available from clinical trials. Dr. Perry Nisen, currently CEO of Sanford Prebys Medical Discovery Institute and formerly at GlaxoSmithKline, helped to establish GSK’s data sharing system in 2013. The site is now managed by the Wellcome Trust. (The New England Journal of Medicine)
